LIFE'S BETTER IN THE SADDLE, PART I
For our equestrian clients, Rolling Hills Estates offered the life in the farm they had been dreaming of. Raising 3 horse-loving girls (inspired by their mother's love of riding), they would make the trek from Manhattan Beach to RHE many times a week for riding lessons. When this magnificent 2-acre horse property came on the market, they knew immediately it was their forever home.
The grounds of KHC Farms (acronym representing their kids' names) sprawl across all usable land, which in conjunction with breathtaking views of the Botanical Gardens and the equestrian facilities already in place, this estate checked all their boxes. A newly-built main house with an open floor plan and a chef's kitchen, a sparkling pool/jacuzzi, many green areas for a trampoline, herbs, fruit trees and flowers, extensive decks for outdoor entertaining, a riding ring prepped for horse jumping, a 6-stall barn and tack room, plus additional turn-out areas for their horses (and other farm animals).
Although the home was practically new, the new homeowners wanted it to reflect their own aesthetic and warmth. They added wood beams in the main open space, barn doors to replace bathroom and closet doors, shiplap that softened the stark modern interiors, fun wallpaper in office and guest bath reflecting their personalities (which we love!). In addition, they built a mud room and renovated the media and laundry rooms.
While the house boasts a clean and modern white/grey kitchen, the homeowners softened the space with farmhouse decor and a new distressed pantry door that hides all the treats!
The horse wallpaper flanks the rustic custom-made sink in the guest bathroom.
When they are not riding, this family is entertaining family and friends, tending to their 20-something animals, harvesting their myriad of fruit trees, or simply enjoying their idyllic little piece of heaven!
